We do not organize any excursion for the Wednesday afternoon, but here are a couple of ideas
of interesting locations to visit in Hamburg:
Hamburg city centre and the Alster Lake: take the metrobus 1 to Othmarschen and
then the S-bahn to Jungfernstieg and explore the city centre with the Town Hall, the main Hamburg
Churches St. Michaelis, St Petri and St Nicolai. The streets around the Binnenalster are the most elegant
Shopping Area in Hamburg. At Jungfernstieg you can also take a boat trip on the Alster lake.
Museum's mile: Around the Central Station (Hauptbahnhof along the S1 Line) you find the
Hamburg Museums: Hamburger Kunsthalle (Classic and Modern Art), Deichtorhallen (Photography Exhibitions),
Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe (Museum for Applied Arts), Bucerius Kunst Forum (Bucerius Art Forum).
Harbour: get off at Landungsbruecke on the S1 Line and explore the Speicherstadt, the
Hafencity on foot or take a boat trip in the Speicherstadt (in one of the smaller boats, "Barkassen") or to the
Harbour. If you prefer, you can also walk under the river to the Harbour-side through the Old Elbtunnel.
Blankenese: take the S1 Line in the direction Wedel and stop in Blankenese, a very
characteristic village with a wonderful view of the Elbe and the chance to walk along the riverside.
Cruise the Elbe River: With the HVV Ticket, you can take the Public Transport boats that
cross the river, e.g. from Teufelsbruecke (bus 39 from the Elbe Einkaufzentrum) or from Landungsbruecke
(on the S1). Otherwise also touristic Elbe cruises start at Landungsbruecke.

Note that the Banquet will take place on the Museum-ship Rickmer Rickmers and there will be therefore
a chance to visit that on Thursday evening.
